Product Description

The BD2 Windeler bassoon has a very warm and round sound whilst still being very responsive. They are made in Germany and suit good amateur to advanced players very well.

Perfect for amateur to advanced bassoonists

The Windeler bassoon reed BD2 is designed for amateur to advanced players and can be used in any playing position, i.e. 1st Bassoon, 2nd Bassoon, Solo Repertoire, etc. as the reed is designed to be an 'all rounder' reed. This means that plays well across the whole range of the bassoon and the reeds enable you to play at a wide range of dynamic levels.

Warm and Responsive

It has a warm and rounded 'Germanic' sound which is very full bodied. The Windeler bassoon reed is responsive making it fairly easy to play. The reed is of a medium strength.

Long lasting German Windeler quality

Windeler bassoon reeds are made in Germany by one of Windelers past pupils. The cane and raw materials are handpicked to ensure every reed is of the highest quality.

Excellence in Bassoon Reed Making

The BD2 is a well constructed bassoon reed. Attention to detail in every aspect of reed construction is apparent. If any changes should be needed to fit the taste of the player, the reed permits simple adjustments. The reeds produce a full and resonant tone. The BD2 is a bassoon reed for all bassoonists who need a dependable reed.

Somewhat difficult

The two Windeler reeds I bought because they are somewhat higher in pitch, were not at all alike. One was much harder, in the other one I spotted weak D and E in the middle register. After playing them in, this improved somewhat. But nothing like the handiness of KGE and Academy reeds, for example.

Windeler Bassoon reeds

Always used Windeler as my go to reliable, consistent Reed. Having not used them for while I came back to them and ordered 4 all super excited, but unfortunately they did not live up to my expectations - either something has changed with them or me - I can’t find one that I like -!!! I’ll put it down to covid as that’s what we are blaming everything on this year :weary::weary:

Really good high notes!

This plays high notes beautifully, and perfectly in tune. I had some difficulty though with middle C, and the B & A below it.
